Academic Works

2002 - 2010

From 2002 – 2007, Chris Lawton was a student at Abertay University in Dundee. The first four years were spent completing an Honours degree in Computer Arts, which he graduated with a 1st Class Honours Degree. During this time he picked up a range of skills, while focusing his academic work on the study of Cinema, with an end focus upon his life-long favourite genre, Horror Cinema. What he did not know at the time, however, was that his interest was driven not by Horror in general but instead the real driving force of his passion was the Uncanny.

This discovery was made while attaining his Masters Degree at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in 2009-2010. During his studies here it became clear that the Uncanny was his major driving passion in both the art and fiction he enjoyed, and also in the things he himself created. Still now, all these years later, this passion drives the artwork he creates.

From this page you can access his major Academic writings from this period, and also a selection of some of the artwork he created during this period. He hopes it is of interest.
